Apparel summit for 50 bln USD garment export roadmap kicks off

DHAKA, Dec. 7 (NsNewsWire) – Bangladesh’s 1st ever apparel summit kicked off in capital Dhaka on Sunday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the three-day at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
The summit aimed at discussing roadmap to nearly double the country’s garment export income which stood at over 24 billion US dollars in 2013-14 fiscal year ended in June.

Hasina also opened “the International Trade Expo for Building and Fire Safety 2014” and “the Center of Excellence for Bangladesh Apparel Industry” to help draw up a future road map for the country’s RMG sector.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has organized the summit and the relevant events.
