DHAKA, May 29 (NsNewsWire) — This year, Citi’s 11th annual Global Community Day will see Citi volunteers throughout Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa leading more than 1,300 community projects to benefit their local communities.

In Asia Pacific, more than 30,000 Citi colleagues, alumni, clients, family and friends in 70 cities across 15 countries in the region will work side-by-side on more than 200 service projects ranging from urban revitalization to literacy and education, career readiness, environmental conservation and disaster relief.

Citi’s Global Community Day offers a wide range of service opportunities that harness the enthusiasm and passion of our diverse employees, family and friends, and meet the pressing needs of our communities.  In the Asia Pacific region, more than 37,000 lives will be touched as a result of the planned service projects.

In Bangladesh, Citi volunteers hosted 100 children from Sajida Foundation’s “Amrao Manush” program, who survive by cleaning garbage, loading and unloading trucks, driving rickshaws or vans, working as laborers or domestic servants to augment their individual or family incomes. They have no access to quality food, safe drinking water and hygienic sanitation.

Children between six and ten years old participated in the Global Community Day at Emmanuelle’s new hall in Gulshan for various fun activities e.g. Face Painting, Balloon Shooting, Ball Pooling, Train Riding, Photo Shooting, Bouncing Castle, Food and Snacks, Gifts etc.

A total of 160 volunteers from Citi Bangladesh had the opportunity to share some happy and memorable moments with the underprivileged children

Md. Moinul Huq, Director and Acting Citi Country Officer for Bangladesh said, “As we celebrate 11 years of this initiative, it must be said, Global Community Day gives us a great opportunity to give back to our respective communities through volunteerism. This year has been extra special, with the support of Sajida Foundation; we also enjoyed a lot by sharing some happy moments with the destitute kids.
